The design
In folklore a fox gains a new tail every hundred years, and when it grows its ninth tail it gains great wisdom and power, sometimes turning golden or white. Wrapped in flames, this nine-tailed fox is shown at the height of that power. Kitsune are also the messengers of Inari, which makes them a lucky motif.
